FowlGunne 05/16/1996 ©1996 Greg Porter The FowlGunne is one of the Gunne types not mentioned in the rules, and does not see a lot of military use. It has Average range, and does up to four Advantages worth of damage. It takes three Advantages worth of effort to reload a FowlGunne, split over any number of Challenge rounds, after which it can be fired. For instance, an average person with Gunnes Ability would have a base of one Advantage, plus one for their Ability, so they would use two Advantages on two Challenge rounds for a total of four, and on the next round they could fire the FowlGunne again. A FowlGunne does a larger number of small attacks. The maximum Advantages a FowlGunne can use for damage purposes is four, or the number of successes in the first part of the ranged Challenge, whichever is lower. For instance, a marginal hit does only one Advantage worth of damage to a target. This may be fine against unarmored waterfowl, but virtually useless against armored soldiers. On the other hand, higher levels of succees can inflict serious injury, though not as much as a LongGunne. The multiple pellets that a FowlGunne fires give the user one extra Advantage to hit at anything except really close range. A FowlGunne may fire a single larger slug, which provides no bonus to hit, but which does four Advantages worth of damage if it does. A FowlGunne is two Light weight and Average cost. A pack of three shells is Inconsequential weight and Marginal cost. A fine FowlGunne can be had for the same cost as a fine LongGunne, and has similar game effects.
