Footsteps of the Prophet(pbuh) is a card game about the early days of Islam, with an unusual backstory.
After the death of the Prophet(pbuh) and the struggle for succession. Each player is a Successor, striving to become Khalifa and unite and expand the faith. Considering that of the first dozen Khalifa, only half died of natural causes, this is not that easy a task. Players control territory, make and break alliances, use and shape historical events and deal with the sometimes violent politics of the first century AH. This game comes in two versions, one with English cards, and one with Arabic cards. The object of the game is to have political control of a large enough region to unite the clans and become Khalifa. Footsteps is fully halal, and uses historical people and events (with footnotes in the rules), so it is also educational about a topic many people have little familarity with.

Footsteps is a print & play game, designed to be used with pre-perfed bu siness card sheets that you can pick up at any office supply store. It also includes a printable box for storing the rules and cards. Footsteps has one expansion set, expanding the geographical area of play north to Constantinople and south to northern Africa.
The backstory? I literally dreamt this game into being. I had a dream about playing it one night and enjoyed it so much that when I woke up I looked around for a copy to buy. It took me a few hours to realize that the game did not actually exist...yet. So, I had to quickly write down what I remembered of the game play and then actually design it. It took a while. I owe a debt of gratitude to Sheik Goma'a (formerly of the Blacksburg masjid, now in Egypt) for the finer doctrinal points and the Arabic subtitles on the cards.
