TOPIC: Italics

Italics 10 months, 2 weeks ago #122

I've noticed that when quoting or editing, sometimes the italics commands "[ i ]" and "[ /i ]" get turned into em commands that don't italicize the words between them and show up as the em commands.

Small issue, but one I've seen. Anyone else have it or it is my browser?
I am Death. Death the Avenger, purger of sins. Death the Merciful, purifier of souls. Those who considered me gone, think again, Those who laughed and mocked me, be afraid. I am returned, and this time Judgement will not be denied, for my name is Death, and I have come to Judge you.

<em>testing testing</em>

edit 1: Well, it did change them from [ i ] and [ /i ] to < em > and < /em >...but it did italicize them.

edit 2: That's odd. When I originally posted it with "i" and "/i", it posted them in italics. When I edited to add my first comment, they showed up as "em" and "/em", and when I saved that edit, they were no longer showing up in italics.

This site is built with Joomla 1.5, which has an amazing amount of flexibility. And complexity. There is a plugin for the site called RokCandy that automatically does html formatting for any code that passes through it. It seems to be intercepting the forum code and exchanging bbcode tags with html tags.

I've deactivated that plugin and it seems to have stopped the problem when you edit your forum posts. We'll see if this deactivation causes new problems elsewhere. If not, looks like the problem is fixed.
