Anyone else here do any sort of battle gaming? I know Greg does SCA, and I try to do Dagorhir when I can. My problem is my home unit is in New York and I'm in Wyoming, so I pretty much just get to play if I can make it to the yearly gathering, since having small kids severely limits my ability to create a unit here.
I've done some gunfight and living history re-enactment here in Wyoming as well (with real guns and blanks, even so I got shot by a blank in the finger from a total n00b, it still hurt, but was far enough away that it was only like a light hit from a whip). Just curious if there were any more into that sort of thing in BTRC land. |

Once upon a time, I was a member of Amtgard (I think it's currently the High Fantasy Society locally.) It was enjoyable, and a good source of exercise (try running around for 3 hours in 105 degree heat while wearing chain mail....)
There was a lot of roleplaying involved, and it was fun. Later, roleplaying seemed to fall away and it became less interesting. It was fun for a few years, though. |

We do some fighting here in Laramie, Wyoming. Closest SCA is Cheyenne and Amtgard has a foothold in Rock Springs. What is available is more dependent on what part of the state you are in. From the southeast corner here we go to Colorado at times for wider options in Belegarth, Amtgard and SCA. What part of the state are you in? If you are in range of Laramie we'd love to have more folks out to play and start getting things a bit more organized than random swordplay among a handful of folks.
