After reading Greg's example of the end of QoS as a possible case of someone failing a will roll either way and having vague recollections of seeing the movie, I went over to my local dollar general and bought it for a couple bucks.

It was a pretty damn good movie, actually. I didn't pay attention first time, I guess. I sure hope they make another one with Daniel craig in it, I'd heard they might not make any more bond movies.

Anyway, I paid close attention to the scene greg described, with the question of whether or not bond failed a will roll one way or another. Great call there, BTW, to make that example.

I can't say either way. My personal take is that maybe after hearing the shot bond knew that one way or another it was over between the woman and the general, and he quickly resolved the situation with the creep he was holding to see how it went and if maybe the armed general would be coming after him. Again, the scene could have played out so many ways, and all equally believable. Part of why it was a great movie.

Personally I'd say bond put duty and professionalism ahead of personal feelings. In the beginning of casino royale he killed the bomb maker based on personal feelings towards people who make terrorist bombs to massacre innocent people and got a thorough reaming and education by M for it, so maybe he learned a lesson.

I'd say by the end of QoS he had learned enough to put duty above personal feelings as he did not, it would seem, kill the creep who had seduced Vesper and was largely responsibly for her death, even though you know damn well he wanted to.

But it's really a good movie, especially to own it for less than most movie tickets cost today, and I'm actually glad greg used it as an example and got me to buy it.
