Within the parameters that the Aeth use to decide what parts of Old Earth to transplant to Aethos, I am open to suggestions. Not just for particular regions to be sampled, but for which regions to be placed next to which. For instance, a chunk of mountains would not be placed next to a chunk of plains. The Aeth probably try to mesh elevations as closely as possible. Note that the final agglometeration with be irregular, and include a chunk of coastline on the central sea in the polygon.
For mapping purposes, it is safe to assume hexagons so that areas mesh as neatly as possible. So, ideas? |

Ayers' rock. It's an interesting piece of terrain and I just picked it for it's uniqueness.
Niagara falls is a rather pretty piece of geography, could be put along the watercourse to the central sea of the polygon. A chunk of rain forest perhaps, assuming there was any left before aethos arrived. |

I am Death. Death the Avenger, purger of sins. Death the Merciful, purifier of souls. Those who considered me gone, think again, Those who laughed and mocked me, be afraid. I am returned, and this time Judgement will not be denied, for my name is Death, and I have come to Judge you.
Last Edit: 8 months, 2 weeks ago by Judge Death.

It would seem likely that almost every type of terrain would be represented, and if those chunks of Earth were picked up (seemingly) randomly, they probably would be deposited in a similar manner as well.
I'd simply "generate" a random map first and start shuffling the various elements then, maybe to give a semblance of "planning", if such a word applies. As the Aeth were not concerned with making things easy for humans, any useful terrain arrangements would be the result of chance. In other words, deliberately designing a map would seem almost contradictory to the general idea of the setting... |
