general: the terms Sport, Agent and Super really need a definition up front.

One major logic issue: at least some governmental leaders will be super-powered, unless a reason why not is given. If, for example, the Canadian PM or POTUS gets super powers, it's far less likely that martial law will be declared right off in their countries.

Another major issue: US Centric. No considerations of UK, Canada, EU... Canada and Mexico NEED be covered, even if the setting is restricted to the US, as there will be border crossers.

2.4 day 3: I have doubts that the destruction would be threatening the media that quickly. Further, curfews and states of emergency take time to enact - often up to a week in the US. China would be in martial law by day 2.

2.6 "cognoscenti" is, while apt, such a rarely used term that I found myself looking it up to double check my intuition on the term. Probably too rarely used a term to use without a glossary entry

2.11 the US priority list would probably be published... just as FEMA priority lists are published for Hurricanes and Earthquakes. Don't forget that FEMA would be a major player in the US.

I was thinking that rorschach would be a good example of a sport.

Another issue I have to ask about is, if sports and agents are somehow spillovers or accidents relating to the eschaton, is it possible that some non humans were spilled on too? Could it be possible a few non human creatures got some power too?

I wonder if this could result in some sort of werewolf that was more like a wolf that assumes a humanoid form, or possibly something akin to the mutant monsters on the 1950's creature features or even some kind of kaiju.

Hmm, deep ones from affected fish, an octopus becomes mini cthulhu, etc. There are some possibilities here, maybe.

Good points. I do not think there will be any powered animals, though. On the notion of national leaders having power, there are a number of considerations. On the plus side, they may be more highly selected as "people trying to make a difference". On the minus side, they are making a difference already even without powers, which might tip things the other way. But most important, then chance of having any power is 1 in 1000, and of that group with power, 99% of them are sports. So, with 200 or so countries in the world, the chance of one prime minister, president or dictator having any power is still less than 50-50.

Hmmmm, the entity may have decided it already knew how leaders affect things and wanted to judge the rest of humanity, so no super presidents, prime ministers, etc. Makes sense and is kind of poetic justice in that people who already had a lot of power didn't get any from the entities.

On the other hand, Greg, that's 19 city mayors, and about 10 county or borough mayors... in the US alone. Canada should have 3-5 sports as well, and mexico, too. Important to either handwave off, or make a note about "what if my mayor's a sport?"

True. But your initial comment was about national-level leaders. But it is certainly worth mentioning the possibility at lower levels of government.

Now that I have the various chapters up and plausibly useful, I need to hit other boards to get some new blood in here to tear it apart. I've got some obvious candidates, but I'm also looking for suggestions so I can just do it all at once.
