What's the difference between the EABA 1.0 free rules and the full EABA 1.1?
And not wanting to start another thread, any news on when EABA 2.0 is due out? Thanks all |

The quick answer to that question is "about 140 pages". EABA v1.1 is minor rules tweaks and bug fixes from v1.0. The difference between the free version and the full version is about what you would expect. A lot more detail on a lot more subjects. But the overall game mechanics presented in the free version are what you would get in the full version.
EABA v2 is going to be ready when it is ready. It is not coming out on a schedule, it is coming out when it meets my personal criteria for being done and done right. But if you want to speed that process a little bit |

Thans for that
I've had my eye on EABA for a few years now, and as much as I like it, I never really got around to doing anything with it. As I've grown older my tastes have changed (ironically I'm liking crunch more and more not less and less) and EABA is on my radar again. Thanks for the info |

How high can characters improve their skills/abilities to? I like to have them make around 8 to 12 increase per skill/ability.
Thanks EDIT: Is there an EABA 1.1 Character sheet available for download? |

The maximum bonus to a roll you can get from a skill is the level of the attribute the skill is based on. So, a 3d Agility could have a maximum of +3d skill for a roll of 6d. There are rules for boosts on a particular aspect of an attribute, specialized skills and such, but that is the general guideline.
The free version of EABA should have a character sheet on it. You can rummage through the EABA v2 section and find a version of the new sheet as well. |

I think I may house rule this, but I'll read 1.1 first before I do. admin wrote: The free version of EABA should have a character sheet on it. I searched but couldn't find an errata file for 1.1. Is there one?
On page 2.6, in the example, it says: "You also buy your adventurer a +1d in Pistols for 10S. Their Firearms skill roll is 4d+2, but their skill with Pistols is 5d+2. The skill with Pistols is now as high as it can get. If their Agility rose to 9, the default Agility roll would go to 3d+0, so their Firearms roll would be 5d+[1] and their roll with Pistols a 6d+[1]." Shouldn't that read Firearms 5d+[2] and Pistols 6d+[2]? |

I do not think I have the errata from v1 on the site. Since everyone who bought v1.0 got a free upgrade to v1.1 it was not a big deal.
On the example you mentioned (page 2.6), the adventurer had an Agility of 2d+1, so the maximum benefit in base skill is +2d (see example on bottom right of page 2.5). This makes their "Firearms" skill roll 4d+1. The +1d specialization on page 2.6 makes the roll 5d+1. Agility: 2d+1 Firearms: +2d, skill roll of 4d+1 Pistol: +1d, skill roll of 5d+1 If they raised Agility to 3d+0, their firearms would go to 5d+0 and pistol to 6d+0, so that part of the example is in error. |

Ah right, ok thanks for that. |

I don't understand the following 2 rules:
Page 2.6 Advanced Topic: Advanced Skills Paying for a skill at one row higher than the bonus it give may give a +1d bonus to the same or a different Attribute when you are using the skill as one of your actions in a turn. I know there are two examples but I’m still not getting it. Perhaps if someone could extrapolate a bit more about why the rule was created, and perhaps one or two more examples would help cement the things. Likewise the following is also lost on me: Page 2.6 Advanced Topic: Skill Packages Sometimes a narrow cluster of skills is learned as a group. So between specialised, advanced and packages, I’ve gotten confused. Can anyone help me get my head around all this? It’s not that it’s complicated, it’s confusing. |
