I'm trying to put together some ideas for ablative force fields in EABA using the rules in stuff, however, I'm struggling to come up with the appropriate "Modifiers",
I am thinking about creating the personal (and indeed, much larger vehicular devices) force field device as "armour" which ablates as it is used (and ideally provides zero protection against melee attacks), and with a regeneration function. Putting it together as "armour" from the vehicles section doesn't seem appropriate, as those rules, whilst great for body armour, don't have a great deal of flexibility to do what I want them too. However, the gadgets section doesn't seem to cover anything like that either, Any thoughts? If I have to I could come up with stats off the cuff, but it would be neat to have some concrete basics to work from, and it seemed an odd omission fort a game which is otherwise very all-encompassing (which makes me think that I have missed something in the book!), |

My first suggestion would be to use the EABA v2 powers system. In the end that will be the central source for making stuff like that.
However, for EABA v1 you would have your own house rule appropriate to the genre and tech level and make up like say a hyperdrive. It is a black box into which you pour energy and get out the desired result. How much energy and what result depends on the tech and the power. What you do is decide what you think is a good result for "vehicle X", like say a fusion tank. Decide how much energy you want to siphon and how much bonus it gives to armor, compare that to the size level of the vehicle and you have a good starting point to scale it up and down for more or less power and bigger or smaller vehicle. Sorry I can't give you a more solid guide, but since we have no idea how such a thing would work, in the end someone is waving their hands and spouting technobabble, which is what I did with the hyperdrive rules... |
