I admit I haven't been much into the board and card games, but lately I've been curious. Which of the BTRC board games are popular?

Personally, I like Slag! and have actually used it in my SF campaign to handle ship-to-ship combat, at least to a degree.

What about the others?

Personally, I've moved from liking the detailed tactical board games to the more abstract "Eurogame" sort of thing. Slag is a bit dated and needs a revamp, but it is still good. I just think there are a few min-max strategies that you can end up with if going purely for combat potential.

I'm finding that I always enjoy the challenge of a game of soft landing, because the mix of players and nations keeps it fresh, and the current global situation always makes something in the game topical ("hey, Greece defaulted, add a token to the economic Catastrophe pile!"). But as a download it takes a bit more work to put together than Slag! does.

Speaking of Slag I have both the pdf and paper version, and I liked the icon bar across the top and how the red marker showed you how far into the book your were and where the other chapters were in re to where you were.

I don't know if this could work in EABA 2 but I wouldn't mind of it could. Perhaps in that little grey bar across the top of the page between the die symbol and the 2.0? The current chapter could just have a circle around it on a mark under it.

I love Slag!. For my taste, it is one of the best implementation of space combat: easy to play, yet complex enough. It also makes creating scifi settings easy. Just slap the spacecrafts together and there you go.
Just the right mix for me.
