Purgatory Bay is the place things wash up when they disappear from somewhere else. Disasters, wars, refugees, shipwrecks. But not all of the disappeared. Only the few with sufficient reason to survive, and the will to make it through the Fog.

And of those few who make it to Purgatory Bay, fewer still can or will brave the Fog to try and leave.

Dozens of disparate cultures forced to co-exist in the county-sized pocket of reality centered on the town of Purgatory Bay, surrounded by the waxing and waning Fog. Some make a new life of it here, for while harsh, in many ways it is  better than where they came from. Some stay to work, some plan to rule, some stay simply because they are afraid to leave. A precious few are Fogwalkers, able to leave through the Fog into other worlds and return, scavengers and pirates of the chaotic situations that always mark the boundary between Purgatory Bay and the  rest of existence.

Forced to co-exist but not forced to like each other, the inhabitants of Purgatory Bay have evolved their own unique civilization, a mixture of justice and brutality, equality and nepotism, faith and heresy. Combined with a new game engine and character creation that focuses on who you are instead of what you can do, Purgatory Bay is definitely worth the price of admission.

Purgatory Bay is a standalone project, a game system and gameworld in one 42-page volume, using a dice system and character creation mechanics designed expressely to convey a feel for the nature of life and adventure in Purgatory Bay. You can get a glimpse of the rules from here.

Purgatory Bay is a BTRC site exclusive and not available from any other online vendor. The download is two files, one that lets you view on screen or print on normal paper, and another which you can print double-sided on twelve 11x17 inch sheets to make a professional-looking book with (most copy centers can do this directly from the file).
